How to back up your save files

While we do support cloud saves, we still recommend that you create a separate folder that contains your save files so that you can ensure that if you have OS reinstallation or corrupt save file you will be able to recover your progress.

Firstly, you will need to navigate to the game's directory files:

• Steam
  C:\Users\%USER%\Saved Games\Avalanche Studios\CotWTheAngler

• EPIC
  C:\Users\%USER%\Saved Games\Avalanche Studios\CotWTheAngler\Saves\%YourEpicID%

All you need to do is create a separate folder ideally in a separate directory, (e.g documents), you will need to make a folder and call it ‘TheAngler save backups’. If you want more specific instructions, please follow here:

1. When in the documents' folder, right click and hover over ‘new’.
2. Select folder.
3. This folder is the folder we will be using to back your files and would recommend giving it a new name from the default. So just type or copy the name mentioned ‘TheAngler save backups’.
4. Have the game directory open and the folder we had created open. You may, can then select right click copy and then right click paste in the new folder.
5. Now you should be good to go to keep your progress secured.
